Some of you may know this and some not but I, the owner of ASPY Hair Extensions am a hair artist myself. I specialize in bridal styling @mhbyallison. One of my favourite artists of ALL TIME is Lalas Updos @lalasupdos. The woman is ridiculously talented, a BOSS and is such an inspiration. She even recently just launched her own hot tool and if you are an artist, you need this in your kit! GET IT HERE

Let's get to know you little! Tell us your name and what you do for a living?
Laura Chihaia and I'm an educator for bridal hair.
How did you get started in the hair industry?
I graduated from Elite Academy in Sacramento, CA in 2009 and rented a chair in a salon shortly after. I did cuts and color until 2015 when I switched to the bridal industry and that's pretty much when my career as an educator started.
What are your favourite type of extensions to work with and why?
Being a bridal stylist and educator, working with extensions that are quick and efficient is a must. My fav extensions to work with are CLIP INS and HALOS.
Would you recommend hair extensions for weddings and special events?
Absolutely! Most of those gorgeous styles we see on social media platforms have extensions included as a way to achieve a beautiful, voluminous results
If you could give advice to a new artist starting out, what would you tell them?
What my Mom used to tell me as a teenager overtime I would complain about things not going my way was "Your success in life will be based on how many solutions you can come up with for your problems and not how many excuses you can find".
Why do you think you've been so successful in the beauty industry?
To be honest, I've never considered myself successful - I consider myself blessed and rewarded for my hard work. Everyone can achieve what I have achieved and even more with had work, determination and the decision to never give up.

My name is Charlina and I am the owner of Mermaid Hair Extensions in Whitby, Ontario.
Let's start by learning a little about you! How long have you been a hair extension artist?
I actually started at the end of high school just for fun as I would always get mine done, and my friends would want to have their hair extensions done. .I remember people would always BBM me asking for me to do their hair, then people who I didn’t know were finding me and I slowly got back into it again!
What do you love about being an extension artist?
I absolutely love creating transformations and making my clients look and feel their best. I also love how I’ve created amazing relationships with my clients over the years as well!
What are your biggest challenges with being an extension artist?
I found I had a lot of challenges starting out , from clients with crazy requests , to suppliers not providing a quality product when they said it was.. I feel that I’ve learned a lot over the years. I feel transparency is key in this industry.
What type of extensions are your favourite and why?
I personally love the keratin bonds and tape extensions. I love how tape extensions are reusable and seamless. In regards to the keratin bonds, I live how each bond can be customizable!
What advice would you give a new extension artist starting out who is trying to build their clientele?
Don’t put your self down you are most likely doing a lot better than you think you are!
Also keep learning, be transparent and of course never give up!
What would you say to someone who is considering trying extensions for the very first time?
Omg do it Sis! You will not regret it!!

My name is Dominique Linehan, and I am self employed. I rent a chair out of Back to Beauty Salon Inc. in Paradise, NL.
Let's start by learning a little about you! How long have you been a hair extension artist?
I have been an extension artist for 2 years now!
What do you love about being an extension artist?
I absolutely love being an extension artist to see how happy my clients are when they finally see the end result! For so many people it can truly be life changing and that’s the most amazing feeling!
What are your biggest challenges with being an extension artist?
My biggest challenge about being an extension artist, is taking photos! I am no photographer, and I need to work on my photographing for my social media purposes!
What type of extensions are your favourite and why?
Keratin tips (fusions) are by far my favourite extension type! They are so much “less” maintenance than other types because they can last so much longer without needing to be “moved up” if properly taken care of at home. They also allow you to do more hairstyles such as high pony tails, half up half down etc due to the tiny bonds! They are just amazing!
Keratin TipsWhat advice would you give a new extension artist starting out who is trying to build their clientele?
For a new extension artist trying to build clientele I would tell them 1. Social media, constantly post and advertise that you are offering extensions, maybe do a like and share giveaway based to really spread the word! 2. Patience is key, don’t get defeated if you don’t have as many clients as you’d like.. put in the hard work and you’ll see the results!
What would you say to someone who is considering trying extensions for the very first time?
For someone reading this considering getting hair extensions... BOOK THAT CONSULT BABE! It won’t hurt to get as much information as you can, especially specifically for you!
